Trip to International Museum of Slavery (Liverpool)

On Friday 22nd May, Miss Bennett and Miss Bloomer departed for Liverpool with a group of 30 Year 7 students to visit the International Museum of Slavery. The purpose of the trip was to support a unit of study of Non-Fiction historical texts based around slavery. Miss Bennett also deserves a mention for running the English department trip that sold out in record time!

Whitby 2015: On the Trail of Dracula

Year 8 bolstered their study of the novel Dracula  by visiting one of the very places that inspired it. The goth-tastic Whitby!

World Book Day! The DSMS Reading Club Launch Party.

It was standing room only at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party that launched the brand new DSMS Reading Club. The air was filled with crumbs and lit-chat as students brought in cakes and their favourite read.

The Tea Party was organised by Miss Agnew and Mrs McAllister (who will be running the club) with help from Miss Higgins.
Shall I be mother?

Books and cake. What more does a young man need?

You can't beat a bit of lit-chat.

We love English homework @DSMS!

Yes, don't adjust your sets it's true! Students at DSMS just love their new creative homework topics, almost as much as their teachers have enjoyed eating... I mean marking them.

The Woman in Black

January 2015

The Woman in Black!

Nails were nibbled, edges of seat were worn out and nerves were left frayed this week as 38 brave students from Year 8 and 9 experienced pure terror at the hands of the deadly Woman in Black.

They visited Darlington Civic theatre to watch this thrilling adaptation of the Susan Hill novel.

The students returned to school thoroughly excited by seeing the story brought to life in all its macabre glory.

A big thank you to Mrs McAllister for organising the trip!

I want my mummy...

Is that her? No it's only Miss Adams!

Mmm... nice proscenium arch...

These children will never be the same again...

We loved it!
