30 Students from Years 7 and 8 travelled to the
Head of Steam Museum in Darlington to discover how the Darlington
to Stockton Railway was built and with the help of several special guests
produce pieces of creative writing inspired by their surroundings.

The trip today was very useful
for my writing and has inspired me to read more books.
It was the best school trip I’ve been on, the actors were
fabulous.
It was a complete pleasure to be able to adventure and
explore the museum for inspiration.
I loved the room with all the letters in and spent nearly
all day in there.
I liked it where the actor playing George Stephenson grabbed
everyone’s attention.
I had great fun talking about books and Victorian writers
Sitting on the bridge you could see everything to help you
with your story!
